Summary (MAL)

Youto Yokodera wants to be seen in a way different from most men: as a pervert. However, his lewd actions are often misinterpreted as good intentions, and people cannot see his true nature. Upon hearing rumors of a cat statue that can banish an unwanted trait, he searches for it and prays for his façade to be removed. But each wish comes at a price: those unwelcomed traits are transferred to someone else who desires them!

After realizing that vocalizing his dirty thoughts is not the best thing, Youto decides to regain his lost traits by seeking out the person who received them. Unfortunately, he was not alone in praying to the cat statue, and now he must not only fix his life, but the lives of others as well.

My Review

Ever heard of the legendary tale of the Stony Cat that grants all wishes? Youto Yokodera has, and he’s lucky enough to have his wish granted by it. Or, was he?

I’ll be completely honest about this one, I watched it a few years back and can only remember a few things about it. I guess you can say that this show had nothing too memorable about it. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to say its not a show worth remembering. It has the typical tropes and situations that a harem anime has, but with characters that are very much likeable. They’re cute and funny, and very entertaining to watch. Watching our main man get into sticky situations with the females was honestly quite enjoyable. You will, at the very least, remember Tsukiko.

HenNeko (the title’s abbreviation) is somewhat convenient in the sense that the main character just happens to be involved with his harem. Certain bits of the anime also do appear somewhat forced. But negativity aside, there are honestly a ton of jokes that would make you laugh, and even more cuteness that will make you smile.

Visually, the anime is great. It was quite a pleasant watch, nothing overly out of place but nothing breathtaking either. The colours were appropriate and the scenes had the right kind of soundtracks. The music was quite catchy, fitting well with the overall theme of the show.

As a whole, the show’s vibes were meant for the casual viewing. Its lightheartedness will give u a refreshing and relaxing break from whatever that may have been on your mind. I think its quite suited for days that you just don’t have enough time to focus on a show.

Should I watch HenNeko?

HenNeko is definitely among the better harem shows out there. It is lighthearted and honestly has lots of cute characters and moments. If you like a main character that is somewhat pleasant to watch and can entertain with his perversion, then why not give this show a try.

If you came here being mislead by the “hentai” part of the title, expecting a lot of, well you know what, then I’m afraid you’ve come to the wrong place buddy. Nevertheless, a nice and entertaining anime to take a break from those emotionally heavy anime like Made in Abyss or Your Lie in April.
