Plot Synopsis
One day in his home, a yakuza member – Nitta – stumbles upon the super-powered alien girl – Hina. With nowhere else to go, Hina relies on Nitta to take care of her. To avoid the public eyes, Nitta forbids Hina from using her powers in public. But trouble strikes when Nitta is forced to raid an enemy gang’s hideout all by himself as punishment, essentially a death sentence. Hina realises the threat Nitta faces, and uses her psychic powers to help him. Thus ensuing the father-daughter like relationship between the two.
Quick Review
There’s a lot about this anime that I liked, especially pertaining to its style of humour. The jokes aren’t excessive, and in fact were in quite the monotonous fashion, yet had great delivery and impact. There’s all sorts of quirky gags and ridiculous moments to keep the show entertaining and hilarious. Even the characters were entertaining to follow. Some radiated charisma, some were quiet, some were wise, yet they were all funny and impactful in their own various ways. This anime is light, but with enough substance to keep you invested and most importantly, entertained.
So… Yeah. That’s all I got. Was that enough? I’m trying to figure out if my longer reviews are worth reading, or if the shorter and more concise ones are better. I feel like long tends to get convoluted, distracts people from my main points and most importantly, looks like a chore to read (even when I proofread). So yeah, if you did read, please do let me know if you think my shorter or longer ones were better. Hope you watch Hinamatsuri! Thanks for reading!

Sometimes short and sweet reviews are great, but it’s also fun to read a longer review where you really sink your teeth into something. So… both are good? Guess that’s not really helpful 😉

You’re definitely right. I guess easier shows like these do just fine with the short and sweet type reviews, and perhaps the heavier ones would need longer reviews to justify them.

I think it depends on a person, some people prefer short ones and others like when you go more in-depth. Maybe try adding TLDR as a first thing and go more in-depth after if some are interested in that?

I suppose it depends on how deep and impactful the show is. For a comedy like this, I think a shorter review suits it to a tee. For a show as indepth as something like Evangelion…yeah…maybe not seeing as there’s so much to talk about and breakdown in that show haha. I guess it also depends on how good a writer you are. Although i’ve never seen anyone break apart the depths of the Evangelion series in a paragraph or two, I think it definitely is possible seeing as there’s so many great writers out there.

Oh you make a really good point. Sure the depth of the show is one thing. But now that I think about it, it’s true that it all depends on your writing capability. Darn, why couldn’t I think of that? Guess I was a bit to obsessed about readability that I forgot about the point of my writing, to be able to convey my message (or opinion in this case). Thanks for this! It’s amazing how simple talks can reveal so much. Looks like I’ll have to get better at writing

I’ve found that some anime, slice of life / comedy in particular, are hard to find words to describe. While they are a fun and often relaxing experience, it’s just so hard to actually “dig into”. There’s really only so much you can talk about before you’re just spoiling the jokes or bringing up the usual “animation as good, sound was good…” that we often see in reviews!

I had / still have trouble writing a concise synopsis for anime episodes, so I get that. It can be hard to figure out how to say something in a clear and to the point manner.
